In the game
The Mine Train can’t build steep slopes or loops, and its rustic track has more friction than most steel types, so its layouts are long and low: many small drops, curves and helixes rather than one big plunge. Its trains are long, five cars of two, with a rugged look on rock supports.
It is a starting ride on Summit Peak and Canyon Run, and building one is a bonus goal on Canyon Run. Its type bonus is solid, and its gentle pieces keep intensity moderate, which makes it the coaster that suits the widest range of guests after the Junior Coaster.
In Park Baron the Mine Train can rise 53 m above the ground under its track. It can build , but not steep slopes, tight turns, loops and corkscrews and vertical drops and top hats. Its trains run 5 cars of 2 seats, 10 riders a train, and its station is 5 to 8 tiles long. Track costs $70 a piece and the station $1,000; it costs $650 a month to run, and guests pay $3.5 a ride by default. The type adds 0.40 excitement to whatever the track earns, and its rolling friction is 0.015. Children are too short to ride it. It is free to build.
Its showpiece design, Runaway Ore Train, climbs 20 m, reaches 77 km/h and pulls 4.3 g, with 0 inversions over 314 m of track and a 32-second ride. It rates 6.04 excitement, 6.83 intensity and 4.05 nausea, costs $8,057 and fills 23 × 28 tiles.

Building tips
- Hug the terrain: small drops into dips and cuttings add up to a lively ride without steep slopes.
- Scenery, trees and water along the track add up to +1.5 excitement, and a Mine Train is usually surrounded by all three.
- A Wild West theme nearby, with a mine cart and a water tower, suits it perfectly.
The real thing
Real mine train coasters are themed as runaway ore trains, usually low to the ground and weaving through rockwork, which makes them family favourites.
