How themes work

Pieces, paths, skins and areas

74 pieces

A dozen per theme, two of them big showpieces. Palms sway, windmills turn, torches flicker and fairy lights twinkle.

Themed paths

Paint any path or queue: each theme has its own surface, fences, lamps, benches, bins and queue rails.

Building skins

Dress shops, toilets and ride entrances in a theme for $90 of park money, so a whole land looks the part.

6 pieces of one theme close together make an area: happier guests and more exciting rides.

The themed-area bonus

Six pieces make a land

The game checks the theming around every ride and guest. Here is the whole rule.

  1. 6 piecesof one theme within 4 tiles of a spot. A showpiece counts as 3, a themed path tile as a quarter.
  2. 60% one themeMost of the theming there has to be the same theme: a jumble of everything is no land at all.
  3. Happier guestsGuests walking through a themed area cheer up (“I love the Pirate Cove theming!”).
  4. +0.1 excitementfor any ride inside a themed area, and +0.35 when the ride belongs to the theme or wears its skin: a Pirate Ship in Pirate Cove.

In the campaign, your Scenery & theming lab discovers the themes; in a sandbox they are ready to use. Pirate Cove and Enchanted Garden are free, showpieces included; Wild West, Space Frontier and Jungle Adventure come with Premium, and Spooky Hollow is a pack, sold separately.

Lakes, ramps and painted ground

Themes dress a land; the land tools shape it. Dig down and raise the water, bend paths over the hills, and paint the ground to match.

  • The water tool: raise or lower a lake one step, or drag Fill with water over ground you dug. You see the lake and its price before you pay
  • Lakes, moats and rivers; raised walkways over them become bridges, and Swan Boats sail on your new lakes
  • Drag paths and queues up or down as ramps, with supports built for you, and a height guide while you build
  • Paint the ground in grass, sand, dirt, rock, gravel or snow, and clear scenery by dragging over an area
