In the game
The Launched Shuttle is launch-only: no chain lifts. Its launch track fires the train whichever way it is going, so every pass through the station adds speed until the train has made its runs; then the launch track brakes it to a stop in the station.
It builds vertical climbs and spike ends, and loops for riders who want an inversion forwards and backwards. Set the launch speed and the number of runs in the track editor: faster launches need taller spikes.
In Park Baron the Launched Shuttle can rise 134 m above the ground under its track. It can build steep slopes, loops and corkscrews, vertical drops and top hats and launch track, but not tight turns. Its launch track pushes the train up to 131 km/h. Its trains run 5 cars of 4 seats, 20 riders a train, and its station is 5 to 10 tiles long. Track costs $120 a piece and the station $2,200; it costs $1,200 a month to run, and guests pay $4.5 a ride by default. The type adds 0.45 excitement to whatever the track earns, and its rolling friction is 0.009. Children are too short to ride it. It comes with Founding Baron.
Its showpiece design, Superconductor, climbs 55 m, reaches 81 km/h and pulls 4.2 g, with 12 inversions over 293 m of track and a 61-second ride. It rates 8.96 excitement, 7.58 intensity and 6.08 nausea, costs $11,000 and fills 3 × 40 tiles.

The ready-made designs
Every coaster type comes with a starter, a crowd-pleaser and a showpiece, at least one Light design (intensity 4.5 or under) and, except the gentle Junior, one Extreme (7.5 or over). These are the Launched Shuttle’s, tested with the game’s own physics.
| Design | Height | Top speed | Max G | Inversions | Length | Excitement | Intensity | Nausea | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PendulumLight. Fired up a 45 m tower, back through the station and up the tower behind it. | 45 m | 100 km/h | 3.0 g | 0 | 145 m | 6.18 | 4.39 | 1.10 | $5,920 |
| ImpulseLaunched through a loop and up a 45 m tower, then the loop backwards and the tower behind. | 45 m | 82 km/h | 3.3 g | 4 | 196 m | 7.25 | 5.45 | 3.56 | $7,440 |
| SuperconductorExtreme. Three loops and two vertical spikes, four runs: twelve inversions, half of them backwards. | 55 m | 81 km/h | 4.2 g | 12 | 293 m | 8.96 | 7.58 | 6.08 | $11,000 |
Building tips
- Build a spike at each end: one ahead of the station and one behind it.
- Lower the launch speed if the test says the train shoots off a spike, or build the spike taller.
- Three or four runs make a long, intense ride; one run makes a quick, gentle one.
The real thing
Real launched shuttle coasters, from the flywheel shuttle loops of the 1970s to the linear-motor impulse coasters with twisted vertical spikes, run the same track forwards and backwards.
